Drink Your Team Colors

Our Story

Three Kings Vodka

Three Kings started 25-years ago when its founders started tinkering with flavored vodkas in their kitchen. While they loved the concept of flavored vodkas, they never liked the execution; sometimes there was a chemical taste to them, other times there was a bad aftertaste. The point was, the versions on the market just never seemed to deliver the right taste.

How we started

This is how it all started, and to this day, this remains Three Kings’ production process.

After decades of experimentation, they felt they were producing world class flavored vodkas. Interestingly, what made them so great was their simplicity:

Amazing Vodka With Fruit

This is how it all started, and to this day, this remains Three Kings’ production process.

After years of experimentation they realized that if they used real fruit instead of “natural flavors,” they could produce world class vodkas with vibrant flavors and beautiful colors.  Serving an amazing cocktail on the patio, or bringing a bottle of delicious vodka to a friend’s party was great, but they soon realized they had struck gold with the colors. They were making the only vodkas that were colored, and one of their early experiments was the Mixed Berry, which was purple, and one of the founders went to a school whose primary color is purple.  It hit them; what would be better than cheering for a purple team with a purple drink?  Realizing they were onto to something, the founders produced a series of batches in different flavors, and started serving them at their tailgates, where they amazed their friends and guests.  If a friend came, and was rooting for the other team, they could drink their team colors as well.

Those early days and tailgates were full of reused vodka bottles and taped on labels with fanciful team names, like Purple Passion.  Even though it wasn’t fancy, all those bottles full of colorful vodka in the back of the car caught the eyes of so many fellow tailgaters as they walked by.  They had never seen purple and red vodkas before, so they wanted to know what they were all about.  More importantly, they wanted to know where they could buy them, and Three Kings was born.

Beyond the color, though, people had never tried vodkas that tasted as good as those.  Some friends thought they were so good, they mistook them for pre-mixed drinks, which came as a real surprise after their second drink…

Interestingly, what made them so great was their simplicity:

Superior Vodka + Quality Fresh Fruit + Artisanal Production = Amazing Vodka With Fruit

Some flavored vodka companies actually painted the back of their bottles to give the illusion that its raspberry vodka is actually red, and a few actually added coloring.  How can Raspberry Vodka not simply be naturally red?

Further research showed that what most other flavored vodkas tended to do was some combination of the following: lower the alcohol content, add sugar, and add “natural flavors.”  Artisanal production doesn’t take shortcuts, and Three Kings is committed to small batches of the best vodkas possible, and taking all the time it takes to do things the right way.

Following the time-tested formula above, we handcraft our own vodka using premium Imported Wheat, then we add real fruit and berries, and let the Vodka soak for months as it absorbs the flavor and color of the fruit.  Importantly, Three Kings are the only Vodkas on the market that are colored as a result of touching real fruit: our Raspberry Vodka is red, our Mixed Berry is purple, and so on, all because they sit on real fruit, absorbing the natural color and flavor; we don’t have to add coloring like others do.

Rather than using an assembly line approach, we produce our Vodkas in a truly artisanal fashion in tiny, hand crafted batches, resulting in the best vodka you will ever taste.  Our process is so unique that regulators require our label to say Vodka With Raspberries, rather than Flavored Vodka.  All the care in making them results in shockingly good Vodka that you will want to stock up on.

Given our natural ingredients and our commitment to the highest quality products, our Vodkas the perfect base for the most refreshing cocktail you can have.   They can also be enjoyed straight, as a martini or on the rocks; they are so smooth that many customers actually believe they are pre-mixed drinks.

What does using fresh fruit and berries mean?

First and foremost, using fresh fruit and berries means the taste is going to make you feel like you literally pulled your cocktail out of the berry patch, or off the tree. The taste is so “real,” it’s what we at Three Kings call “Peak Refreshment.” Using fresh fruit also means that there may be slightly different colors in different bottles. As we say on our label, no berry or piece of fruit is identical, so each batch of our vodkas will have slight variations. Additionally, using fresh fruit means you may see a tiny seed here or there that makes it through our extensive filtration process, but, trust us, it won’t hurt the product or flavor; it just proves we’re telling the truth about how fresh our product is.

Care for your Three Kings Vodka.

While plain vodka loves to be stored in the freezer, Three Kings Vodkas don’t. Again, it’s all about the fruit, and they don’t agree with the freezer. That said, they are more than happy to stay in the refrigerator, so they are already cool when you come home, and want Three Kings “peak refreshment.” Of course, they can sit in your liquor cabinet for years, and will taste the same as the day your bought them, but as good as they are, we just can’t see that happening.

Plain or Mixed Drink?

Please go to our Recipes tab for fantastic Three Kings cocktail recipes; when our vodkas are mixed in a cocktail, it will at the very least be the best drink you’ll have all year. That said, some Three Kings fans prefer to simply throw some ice in a glass, and start pouring. Of course, we agree that our vodkas truly stand on their own, and taste so good, some people wonder, “why bother with a mixer?” While we agree, we want to point out that, while delicious, you will be drinking straight vodka; it is not a pre-mixed drink from the grocery store.
